Al-Anon is for families, relatives and friends whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking or drug addiction.

Online classes happen every Monday at noon, 5:30 pm, 6:30 pm

The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium’s Behavioral Health Wellness Clinic is offering a group to improve parenting and caregiving skills! Ayuq is a group where individuals can learn skills to better take care of the children in their lives (current custody is not required).
Ayuq is a 12-week group starting Tuesday, May 6, and will be offered every Tuesday from noon-1 p.m.

This group blends traditional Alaska Native knowledge and Western psychotherapy to help group members from a culturally informed lens. Weekly group topics include awareness, qanruyuutet (balanced being), and historical trauma, stress, healing, and more.

All sessions are facilitated by a psychotherapist, delivered over Zoom and completely confidential. Call 907-729-2492 to complete a screening or visit the clinic website at ANTHC.org/BHWC.

Are you coping with a child’s parent who struggles with mental illness? NAMI Juneau (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) hosts an in-person Family Support group the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month from 5:30-7pm at the NAMI Juneau office at 8711 Teal Street. This group is open to any adult in Alaska who has a loved one living with a mental health condition, regardless of diagnosis. The group is designed to connect, encourage, and support participants using a structured support group model. Zoom options are available by registering here:

The Alaska Center for Resource Families offers trainings for foster and adoptive parents, some of which may help kin families too. A schedule of classes can be found on their website.

Formed Families Forward offers free online “Learning Your Way” classes on topics including Trauma 101, Special Education, ADHD, and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. Register here for spring classes. Registration is open through June 30, 2025.

Also from Formed Families Forward – an 8-week online class to help caregivers manage behaviors of kids of all ages. Tuesdays at 7pm starting June 17.

PAL (Parents of Addicted Loved Ones) hosts a weekly, free virtual support group for parents and other family members who have a loved one dealing with a substance use disorder. Topics include the role of the family in addiction, setting realistic boundaries, and healthy helping vs. enabling. Meeting facilitators are trained parent volunteers. Stone Soup Group supports Alaskan parents and caregivers of children with special needs. They offer navigators and mentors, and online classes about school services, Medicaid, and managing at home. Stone Soup offers a virtual weekly support group, in-person trainings, and recorded classes. They update their website regularly.
