Meet Our Board

Katie Erickson

President

I was born and raised in Juneau and have worked in the financial services industry for ten years. In my free time, I boat and camp with my husband of 20 years. We have one son, three grandchildren, and a Newfoundland. I am passionate about the Kin Support Program and helping families.

The Hon. Debra O’Gara

Treasurer

I live in Petersburg but my mom and Auntie were born and raised in Mountain Village. Their mother Frances Tamaree Sheppard (Skip) was born in Wrangell and died too young. My Great Grandmother Tillie Paul Tamaree was a civil rights activist and mother to William and Louis Paul. My Great Grandfather William Tamaree was a community leader, carver, and peacemaker in Wrangell. My family has been and continues to be a mixture of fighters and survivors. Multigenerational experience has grounded me and helps me navigate through life’s journey. I have been a lawyer, judge, professor, PhD candidate, weaver, and caretaker for the Teeyhitaan clan At.oow.

Jesse Thompson

Vice President

I am an attorney at Alaska Legal Services in Juneau, where I provide legal aid to low-income Alaskans in areas such as family law, housing, and public benefits. My experience includes working on domestic extremism issues with the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation, working as a supply specialist at research station in Antarctica, research and curriculum support at the National War College, and service in the Army. It is an honor to be asked to serve on the board of the Kin Support Program.
